Abstract
Dispersion of the complex dielectric constant of [N(C2H5)4]2CuCl4 crystals was studied in the temperature range from 175 to 300 K, covering both phase transitions in the crystals. A small steplike anomaly of ε′ was observed at T1 = 257 K, while at T2 = 199 K no anomalous change was detected. In phase II, two relaxational processes were observed. The first one is of the Debye type with the activation energy of 18 and 17 kJ mol-1 in the [1 0 0] and [0 0 1] directions, respectively. The second process gives an increase of the real part of the dielectric constant and can be related with the heterogeneity of phase II. © 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
