Szpital Niewiniątek we Florencji. Dzieje i misja

Abstract
One of the places that attracts the attention of tourists visiting Italy is the Hospital of the Innocents in Florence designed by Filippo Brunelleschi. This monument is an expression not only of the genius of Renaissance artists, but also a testimony of Christian faith and humanist sensitivity to the fate of abandoned children who found their home in this building. Here they received care, support, upbringing and preparation for adult life. The article presents the history and mission of this charitable institution, extracting elements of the ethos that shaped its everyday life. This ethos was co-created by Christian moral sensitivity, motivated by the love of God and neighbor, and by the ideals of Renaissance humanism, which reawakened respect for the child and began the process of gradual discovery of his/her personality. The centuries-old history as well as the charitable and educational mission of the Florentine Hospital of the Innocents indicate the possibility of harmonious cooperation between various ecclesial and secular, educational and political environments, for the benefit of the wronged and those in need of help.

- Jednym z miejsc, które przyciąga uwagę turystów zwiedzających Włochy, jest florencki Szpital Niewiniątek zaprojektowany przez Filipa Brunelleschiego. Zabytek ten jest wyrazem nie tylko geniuszu renesansowych artystów, ale także świadectwem chrześcijańskiej wiary i humanistycznej wrażliwości na los skrzywdzonych dzieci, które w tym budynku znalazły swój dom. Tu otrzymywały opiekę, wsparcie, wychowanie i przygotowanie do dorosłego życia. Artykuł ukazuje historię oraz misję tej dobroczynnej placówki, wydobywając z nich elementy etosu kształtującego jego codzienność. Etos ten był współtworzony przez chrześcijańską wrażliwość moralną, motywowaną miłością Boga i bliźniego, oraz ideałami renesansowego humanizmu, który rozbudził na nowo szacunek dla dziecka i rozpoczął proces stopniowego odkrywania jego podmiotowości. Wielowiekowe dzieje jak i charytatywno-wychowawcza misja florenckiego Szpitala Niewiniątek ukazują możliwość harmonijnego współdziałania różnych środowisk, kościelnych i świeckich, wychowawczych i politycznych, dla dobra osób skrzywdzonych i potrzebujących pomocy.
