Abstract
This paper presents past and recent localities of charophytes in the Wdzydzki Landscape Park (NW Poland). In lakes 15 species of charophytes were found. Many of the charophyta, which were observed in this area, are regarded as endangered and vulnerable in Poland, especially Chara filiformis, C. polyacantha, C. rudis, Nitella tenuissima and N. opaca. Our data show that over the last 150 years several species have disappeared from previously recorded localities e.g. C. filiformis, N. opaca and N. mucronala, most probably due to eutrophication. In the last two decades however many new sites have been found. The basic information on the present distribution and ecology is provided.
