Abstract
TGS crystals admixtured with different concentrations of L-valine (LV-TGS) and L-threonine (LT-TGS) were grown and investigated. The domain structure of LV-TGS and LT-TGS crystals was observed in the growth pyramids (001) and (110) for the crystals grown below or above the Curie point, from TGS solutions including different concentrations of the admixtures. Observations of the domain structure were performed by the method of liquid crystals in the process of spontaneous aging. The domain structure of pure TGS crystals, when compared to the structures of L-valine and L-threonine admixtured ones, shows greater refinement and the following relation is satisfied: N(TGS) > N(LV-TGS) > N(LT-TGS) where N stands for the number of domains per a unit of length. © 1995, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
