Abstract
Shapes of leaves of two liverwort species, viz. Lophozia ventricosa and Lophozia sihicola, were characterized by means of three different methods: polar coordinates, conics, and Fourier series. Results were then used to compare the leaf shapes of the two taxa, and differentiate between their leaves. Characterization by Fourier series gave the most reliable results.
