Abstract
A ferrofluid is a suspension of single domain magnetic nanoparticles in a carrier liquid, stabilized by a surfactant. In this paper acoustic and magnetic properties of the ferrofluid with CoFe2O4 particles are presented. The measurements of magnetic susceptibility have allowed estimation of the mean size of magnetic particles, concentration of magnetic particles and saturation magnetization. The measurements of ultrasonic propagation velocity show good structural stability of the ferrofluid in an external magnetic field.
