Abstract

The effect of residual austenite in a carburized layer after quenching on the mechanical properties of the elements produced is discussed. The percentage of residual austenite in the structure after quenching is estimated. The martensite transformation temperature in the carburized layer is determined. A method of predicting the quantity of residual austenite in a carburized layer after quenching is proposed.
