Kresy Wschodnie w polskim dyskursie parlamentarnym parlamentarnym (na podstawie korpusu stenogramów parlamentarnych z lat 1918-2018)

Abstract

The work by the team assembled at IPI PAN (Institute of Computer Science, Polish Academy of Science), which has been ongoing for over ten months, has resulted in the creation of a working (and still being further developed) corpus of 20th-century Polish parliamentarism. The corpus was created on the basis of parliamentary transcripts from the years 1918–2018 and already contains nearly 200 million segments. On this basis, preliminary analytical work on the language of Polish twentieth-century parliamentarism is already being conducted. One of the first issues is the preliminary lexicographical and lexicological analysis of the assembled corpus. In order to show the extent of the corpus and its chronological complexity, subjected to lexical and semantic analysis is a Polish structure Kresy Wschodnie (Eastern Borderlands). The language data was excerpted from the corpus using a special tool developed at IPI PAN – Korpusomat. Thanks to such excerpt, it was possible to trace the chronological scope of these structures in Polish parliamentary discussions and the semantic, thematic and pragmalinguistic scope, i.e. to investigate these aspects of parliamentary discourse (non-linguistic and non-parliamentary) with which Polish members of parliament connected a given structure. It made it possible to analyse a specific subject matter in Polish parliamentary discourse that coincides with the use of the phrase Kresy Wschodnie.
