Electrocatalysis of the formaldehyde oxidation at alloys of platinum with sp metals II

Abstract
The electro-oxidation of formaldehyde at platinum-silver and platinum-gold alloys in alkaline solution was studied with cyclic voltammetry and a rotating-disc electrode at various temperatures. Influences of the alloy composition, the pH and the temperature were identified. In the framework of the proposed reaction sequence the change in the apparent energy of activation is related to the electronic and adsorption properties of the alloys. © 1994.
