The effect of initial concentrations of nitrates and nitrites on the denitrification by the bacteria of Pseudomonas genus

Abstract
The denitrification by the Pseudomonas genus incubated in the nitrate, nitrite and mixed nitrate-nitrite media with different initial concentrations [NO3--N](o) and [NO2--N](o) was studied. Changes in concentrations of all inorganic nitrogen compounds in the media were plotted as a function of the reduction time for all the media examined. The concentration range corresponding to the complete reduction was determined and the rate constants as well as induction periods were calculated. The dependence of rate constants on [NO3--N](o) and [NO2--N](o) was given.--N](o) was given.
