Abstract
The pyridinium group at C‐6 of the purine 1, RMe, has proved to be a good leaving group, making possible an efficient two‐step synthesis of the biochemically important derivatives 2, XN3, SCH2CH2OH, OCH3. Older methods, which required more steps, afforded lower overall yields. (Figure Presented.) Copyright © 1985 by VCH Verlagsgesellschaft mbH, Germany
