Erystyka w horoskopach – argumentum ad verecundiam oraz upostaciowienie jako przykłady perswazji językowej

Abstract

Horoscope texts realize eristic devices in many different ways. This applies to horoscopes published in magazines, books and in internet web. Ways in realizing eristic devices are different depending on place of publication, length of the text and its subject. Creators mostly use standard eristic device – generalization. This eristic argument can be implemented in different ways and using many linguistic or stylistic devices. Most authors use eristic device – invoke authority. This authority is often stars and planets, looking over peoples fate. For a blue sphere to become an authority, creators must use another eristic device – prosopopoeia. Equally fundamental are also blue sphere authority, author authority (aka secret knowledge experts) and authority of a text or book itself. Common use of ad verecundiam procedure in horoscopes is especially interesting in context of modern social dialogue about authorities death.
