Implicytność intencji autorskiej w obrębie płaszczyzny onomastycznej. Na wybranych przykładach z sagi o Harrym Potterze

Abstract
In the present paper the author examines the issue of translating proper names in a literary work. Assuming that the creative act is inherently intentional, he proceeds with pondering on the complexity of the process of naming elements of the fictional universe. Since a text is always deeply rooted in the cultural context of its origin, there are numerous potential connotations encapsulated in a proper name. A translator is eventually forced to choose its primary meaning, leaving out these less significant ones — this process relies, apart from the limitations of the target linguistic and cultural systems, on their individual decisions. Bearing in mind these fundamental premises, the author analyzes three examples of proper names from the Harry Potter saga
