Intramolecular OH...N⇄O-...H+N hydrogen bonds in N-(1H-2-OXO-4-Pyrimidinyl) amino acids

Abstract
Seven N-(1H-2-oxo-4-pyrimidinyl) amino acids were studied by NMR and FTIR spectroscopy. In DMSO-d6 solutions easily polarizable intramolecular OH...N⇄O-...H+N bonds were formed and the IR continuum was observed. In aqueous solutions the intramolecular hydrogen bonds were broken and the tautomeric equilibrium shifted towards the zwitterion. © 1988.
