Między autotematyzmem a intertekstualnością. O twórczości Ewy Kuryluk

Abstract

The article is an analysis of Ewa Kuryluk’s works – especially the novel Century XXI – aimed to show how its intertextual references create a space for metareflection. Kuryluk places the plot of the story in a literary and artistic environment, and uses quasi-fictional characters, such asJoseph Conrad or Djuna Barnes, to expose existing literary conventions and notions on the literary process – also her own. In addition, the text read according to its autobiographical key becomes a trace of author’s personal experiences, while the characters become the alter ego of Kuryluk or of people close to her. The double coding of the novel – the literary and the personal – puts into consideration the tensions between the fictious and the authentic and also between parts of a significant theoretical literary triad: intertextuality, metareflection and autobiographism.
