Abstract

In this article, the object of research are pseudonyms of Bulgarian writers, translators, journalists, caricaturists and publicists created from tree names. Pseudonyms are a group of anthroponyms, which are chosen independently, are therefore the result of personal choices and are not subject to the same rigors as the official names, patronymics and surnames. The author discusses a group of over eighty pseudonyms, whose motivational basis were the names of trees. Their analysis shows that the Bulgarian writers, choosing pseudonyms for themselves, directed their attention primarily to such trees that had a fixed symbolism and multiple use in folk rituals and medicine.
