The role of forms and methods of forestry education in students' awareness

Abstract

The State Forests implement the policy of sustainable development. It manages three major functions: ecological, productive and social. The social function of forests concentrates on education. The research paper refers to the effectiveness of educational activities carried out by different units of State Forests. Both the historical perspective and global determinants in selected countries were discussed in the research. The aim of the research is to determine through empirical cognition if and to what extent educational activities offered by the State Forests have an impact on general knowledge of students. The survey was conducted in the land of Regional Directorate of State Forests in Poznan, in Babki Forest District. Fifth-grade students became subjects of experimental activities. All obtained data were analyzed with reference to scientific and historic knowledge as well as to native language and art. During the activities on educational paths the students were thoroughly observed. In addition teachers were interviewed. Collected data and research materials are presented in four chapters dealing with particular problems. Empirical data were analyzed and interpreted. The research paper is provided with introduction and conclusions parts containing outcomes and further proposals drawn from the research.
