Design, synthesis and physicochemical propoerties of new oligopyridine complexes with d- and ƒ-metal ions

Abstract

The scientific goal of this PhD thesis is to expand the library of complexes of d- and f-metal complexes with N-heterocyclic ligands. These compounds have attracted great attention of researchers due to their interesting physicochemical properties which can be relatively easy modified. Four N-heterocyclic ligands have been synthesized and fully characterized. Ligand L1 and L4 were synthesized by a multistep Stille-type coupling reaction. Hydrazone ligand L2 have been obtained by the condensation reaction between appropriate hydrazine derivative and ketone. Suzuki coupling reaction have been used to synthetize ligand L3. Obtained Cd(II) complexes of L1 and Ag(I), Eu(III), Gd(III) and Tb(III) with L2 showed interesting luminescent properties. Silver(I) complexes of ligands L3 and L4 are promising photocatalysts for the purification of water by degradation of organic pollutants under UV-Vis irradiation.
