Dawid Bała
Abstract
In the conditions of unfavourable agrarian structure of the Polish agriculture, a chance to enhance the competitiveness of farms can be seen in integration activities. The manifestation of farmers integration is creation of agricultural producer groups, the majority of which in the years 2004-2014 functioned in the Wielkopolskie (Greater Poland) voivodeship. The goal of the study was to determine and assess the impact of activities of the agricultural producer groups in Wielkopolskie voivodeship on the development of agriculture and changes of spatial structure of the agricultural market. The importance of agricultural producer groups in Wielkopolskie voivodeship in the years 2004-2014 significantly increased, which was directly due to an impressive growth of the number of groups in that period, which amounted to 4544,4%, surge in the number of associated farms, as well as escalation of agricultural production within them. Agricultural producer groups influenced the advance of agriculture through increasing competitiveness of activities of the member farms, realized through more attractive sale of agricultural produce and supply of means for the agricultural production by the group. The positive influence of the agricultural producer groups on the agriculture is also evidenced by the funds they acquired, which, calculated per 1 ha of agricultural land in the years 2005-2016, increased from 7.76 PLN to 102.93 PLN. The effects of functioning of the agricultural producer groups were directly related to the absorption of funds, because 77.6% of groups benefited in the analysed timescale from the subsidies, and it constituted a percentage of the value of agricultural products sold by the group. The area of the largest number of functioning agricultural producer groups and their biggest importance for the development of agriculture was the south-western part of the voivodeship. In the analysed period the share of agricultural producer groups in the agriculture market of the Wielkopolskie voivodeship measured by the value of agriculture production sale amounted to 11.1%., whilst characterized by the upward trend. The influence of the agricultural producer groups was the highest on the market of cereals and oilseed crops (14.1%), poultry (13.6%) and pigs (13.3%), and it grew in the subsequent years covered by the analysis. The result of the conducted research was construction of the conceptual model of organization and functioning of the agricultural producers’ group. Two basic ways of selforganizing of the agricultural producer groups were distinguished. First and at the same time more popular method of creating groups was their establishment from scratch by the farmers themselves. Organizing a group may also be achieved by transforming a previously existing entire entity or separating a part of it, on the basis of which an agricultural producer group is created. In the operation of the agricultural producer group, the joint sale of agricultural products is essential, which defines the sector profile of the given group and its manufacturing potential. Implementing the application goal of the study, the recommendations were made related to the rules of functioning of the system of support for the agricultural producer groups, which could contribute to the development of agriculture of Wielkopolskie voivodeship and more effective use of aid funds.- Record ID
